At McCann, health, safety and wellbeing are fundamental to the way we operate, not simply a compliance requirement, but a core responsibility shared across every level of our business. Our commitment is built on proactive planning, continuous improvement, and creating a culture where every employee, contractor and supply chain partner feels safe, supported and empowered to speak up.
We firmly believe that successful project delivery starts with protecting people, both physically and mentally, and ensuring that nothing is ever so important that it cannot be done safely.

Prioritising the
health, safety
and wellbeing
of our staff
At McCann, we care about the well-being of our employees; it is at the heart of everything we do. We foster a proactive safety culture across our business and strive to make sure our employees, contractors and the people who work with or alongside us can carry out their work in the safest way possible. We work by the ethos that “nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
Safeguarding
mental wellbeing
McCann aims to provide a supportive environment for all employees, contractors and supply chain partners. A work environment where people feel safe to be themselves and are respected as such is important.
McCann supports the mental wellbeing of our employees through the availability of mental health first aiders across all our depots in the UK, who support colleagues in line with our mental wellbeing policy.
The policy outlines our commitment to our employees’ health and safety, which extends to safeguarding their mental wellbeing and maintaining their mental fitness as well as their physical fitness. We believe that employees experience better physical health through having good mental health.
Safe and
controlled working
environment
We believe the key to successful project delivery is achieving a safe and controlled working environment. We ensure that our management systems provide for effective monitoring and reporting of Health, Safety and Environmental performance and that this reporting, through using ‘lessons learnt’, leads to the continuous improvement of our systems and policies.
McCann prides itself on having Site Managers who are both professional and confident in implementing CDM regulations and the legal requirements of Health and Safety. Our site managers are supported by an experienced Health and Safety Manager, the wider Health and Safety team and by the deployment of a well-informed, qualified workforce committed to safety and the environment.
Accredited
fleet operations
To enhance our stance on Health and Safety through our transport operations, we have developed a Fleet Operator manual and are accredited with the Fleet Operator Registration Scheme (FORS) gold.
At McCann’s, we are dedicated to minimising our work-related road risk associated with our transport operations and drivers. By signing up to the FORS scheme, we are managing our road risks and taking responsibility as a competent fleet operator.
