Due to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, Network Rail National Logistics Unit needed to vacate their existing depot and distribution centre at Temple Mills. Whitemoor Yard in March was eventually identified as the most suitable site for the new distribution centre which was required to service the South-East of England, and Birse Civils were appointed to lead the construction process.
The electrical element of the work, undertaken by McCann’s, included providing an11kV distribution network around the yard. There were also a number of 11kV cable diversions to undertake as well as the introduction of new supplies. L.V power distribution was provided to the various buildings, installations and other equipment around the yard. We were also responsible for significant civil engineering elements of the works, providing all ducting and troughing infrastructure, numerous reinforced concrete bases and hard standings along with the construction of a number of LV and HV substations.Back to top
