Senior Civil Engineering Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civils Estimator to join our growing team and take a leading role in the pricing and tendering of civil engineering projects.

The successful candidate will have hands-on site experience, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to independently prepare accurate, competitive tenders for a wide range of civil engineering schemes.

Role and responsibilities;

What your role will include:

• Winning Work: Drive our success by producing winning tenders and nurturing key customer relationships.

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to contribute to our projects. You will undertake electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs, adhering to safety standards.

If you’re passionate about construction and enjoy hands-on work, J McCann & Co Limited offers an exciting opportunity to join our expert team. You’ll be responsible for LV connections to DNO/IDNO networks for unmetered supplies, primarily within public highways and utilities settings. This is a physically active role requiring outdoor work in all weather.

Essential criteria;

Who we are looking for:

• Cable Jointing Expertise: A minimum of 2 years as a Jointer in the immediate past three years in the NERS sector as an ICP jointer, specifically on distribution networks associated with unmetered supplies.
• DNO Authorisation: Hold relevant authorisation to work on DNO/IDNO networks as a cable jointer.
• Safety Focus: A strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and promoting a secure work environment during connection activities.
• Physical Fitness: Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and performing the physical aspects of cable jointing.
• Driving Licence: A full, clean UK Driving Licence (maximum 6 penalty points), as travel to various sites will be required.
• Teamwork & Reliability: Proven ability to be a good team worker, demonstrating loyalty and commitment.
• Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and complete work to required standards.

Role and responsibilities;

What your role will include:

• You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the work is carried out in correct and safe manner with Safety Management System being adhered to at all times.
• Keeping all electrical test equipment clean and maintained and observe calibration dates.
• You’ll be committed to the companies’ policy on Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality issues.
• Responsible for ensuring that all recording of all joints, cable positions and relevant paperwork is completed accurately.
• We’ll ask you to undertake jointing work in accordance with the company distribution safety rules and the host jointing manual.
• You’ll also be responsible for removing any hazardous materials generated by the jointing process and keeping the site generally free from rubbish.
• Whilst maintaining the jointing manual with any updates or safety bullets issued by your Line Manager.
• In this role you will be required to undertake Jointing techniques up to 1000V, including excavation, cable laying, reinstatement and fault location on SWA LV cables.
• Frequently exercise independent technical judgement within your responsibilities.
• Collaborate with your manager(s) to ensure team members perform effectively and meet company objectives.
• Accurately report all worked hours on timesheets for your line manager.

HIAB Operative

Essential criteria;

Who we are looking for:

• Experience: Proven experience of working in HIAB operations ideally within Street Lighting.
• Qualifications: Valid HGV Class C Licence, HIAB Crane certificate CPCS or ALLMI.
• Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction drawings.
• Safety Commitment: Strong dedication to safety protocols and fostering a secure work environment.
• Driving Licence: A full clean UK Driving license is required for this role (no more than 6 points on Driving Licence).

Role and responsibilities;

What your role will include:

• Supervise the loading of the vehicle to ensure materials are safely loaded and secure, minimising the chance of damage.
• Collect and deliver equipment to site.
• Manual labour: Digging holes, installing equipment as applicable.
• Comply with all relevant legislation in line with Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive requirements.
• Ensure all safe working practices are always followed for the safety of yourself and others.

• Experience: Proven experience as a qualified Electrician.
• Qualifications: Hold relevant electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation) and a valid ECS or CSCS card.
