A52 Improvement Works – A Wider View
The McCann civil engineering team has recently completed a £3.3m Road Improvement Scheme in Nottingham on Derby Road between Bramcote Roundabout and Queen’s Medical Centre.
The extensive works involved widening the carriageway, reducing the bus lane and installing new traffic signalling to help ease congestion and reduce travel time for commuters.
McCann successfully managed and maintained the civil engineering operation, requiring stringent pre-planning, programming and strong communication skills. McCann were initially responsible for site clearing works – paying close attention to restoring and recycling disused material such as brick paving, kerbing, fire hydrants and valves.
The project then went on to reconfigure three new roundabouts with 16 pedestrian tactile paving crossings, carriageway widening, upgrading the street lighting and substantially develop the drainage system to cope with the changes. This involved digging almost 2800 linear metres of trenching!
McCann were delighted to finish the project on time and on budget, meaning commuters could enjoy shorter journey times with minimal disruption.
