We wish a happy retirement to long-serving electrician, Trevor Johnson

After 21 years with the company, we recently wished a very happy retirement to one of our longest-serving members of staff, Trevor Johnson.

Trevor joined McCann in 1998 on an initial short-term three month contract when an electrical tender was up for renewal. The rest, as they say, is history!

As a street lighting technician for the company, Trevor has been on the tools during the entirety of his employment with McCann alongside his role as a Safety Representative for both North and North East Lincolnshire. This involved him liaising with both our on-site teams and safety management staff at our Nottingham head office about any concerns or ideas relating to Health and Safety.

As a result of Trevor’s input and hard work, Continue Training Programmes and additional safety measures have been implemented, leading to increased efficiency and safety in the workplace for our on-site teams.

Working at McCann has also been a family affair for Trevor, with his son Lewis employed by the company since December 2013 and fulfilling the same role as his dad.

Trevor was presented with a generous sum of travel vouchers on his last day by our Contracts and Technical Director, Steve Adcock, as recognition for his many dedicated years of service. He is now looking forward to the future but is also grateful for his time at McCann, as he goes on to explain.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at McCann – making some great friends and being part of a workplace family that really does look after its own,” says Trevor.

“You always want to work for good people that do an honest and professional job – and McCann fits that mould,”

He continues, “Spending so many years at work and then one day being retired is a bit of a shock to the system at first because you do think, “what am I going to do with all this free time?””

“My goal now is to enjoy my retirement, spend time with my family and do all the things you say you’re going to do but never have the time to. I’m sure I will keep myself busy!”

Trevor’s line manager John Drury, has nothing but praise for Trevor and wishes him all the best for the future.

“He has been a model professional and a highly valued asset to the McCann team throughout the last 21 years,” says John.

“I hope he keeps in touch with us and we genuinely wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement.”

Everyone at McCann would like to extend a sincere thank you to Trevor for his many years of dedicated service and wish him a very happy retirement and all the best for the future.
