Tiz Gibson joins our team as Local Authority Business Lead

We are very pleased to announce that Tiz Gibson has joined our team in the newly-formed position of Local Authority Business Lead.

Tiz’s appointment follows our success in completing a number of projects for local Councils, including our most recent – working with North East Lincolnshire Council to replace over 20,000 traditional street lights with low energy LED lights.

Completing the project well ahead of schedule and under budget, North East Lincolnshire Council has highly commended our skills, knowledge and adherence to the strict legislation and Health & Safety standards it requires of its contractors.

“We recognised that our numerous quality accreditations, together with our 40-year infrastructure development history, makes us the ideal partner for other Local Authorities tasked with delivering similar initiatives, so this was obviously a key area of potential growth for our business,” explains MD, John McCann. “The next logical step was to appoint a person to head up our Local Authority business division as our Local Authority Business Lead. In Tiz, we’re confident we have the perfect person for the role.”

Tiz Gibson joins our team from Balfour Beatty where, as General Manager, he was responsible for the overall management and delivery of contracts. Specialising in PFI (Private Finance Initiatives) or ‘public-private partnerships’, funding public infrastructure projects with private capital, Tiz cites lighting as a particular area of expertise.

“I’ve tendered, mobilised and demobilised a number of high value projects, including delivering a 30,000 LED replacement programme and successful construction phases on multiple lighting PFIs with values in excess of £30m per annum,” explains Tiz from Coalville in Leicestershire. “I also have extensive experience from inside the public sector, having worked for Leicester City Council and Warwickshire County Council managing similar projects from a client perspective, placing particular emphasis on Health and Safety and Quality Management, along with control of budgets.”

It’s this broad experience and understanding of both the Local Authority and the commercial side that impressed John McCann and the senior management team, and Tiz’s new role will see him targeting Local Authorities across the country to offer LED replacement and maintenance services, plus many other infrastructure development projects. “We already had the in-house skills to deliver, and had achieved the high standards required by Local Authorities for contractors,” adds John McCann. “And now in Tiz we have the perfect team member to promote our services across the UK.”
