McCann secures major multi-utilities works for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
We are delighted to announce that we have secured major multi-utilities works as part of Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci Construction UK Joint Venture’s Integrated Health Projects at the Royal Chesterfield Hospital and Kingsway Hospital, Derby, for the Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Works will be delivered in partnership with Integrated Health Projects, a joint venture between Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci Construction UK – with plans to construct a new mental health facility at the Royal Chesterfield Hospital. A number of additional external stakeholders will support the delivery of the projects including RPH Surfacing, Vocon Traffic Management, Radius Sub Terra / SRS Gas and Water Utilities.
We have secured subcontract orders for both hospitals, which sit within the Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
For the Derby North project at Royal Chesterfield Hospital, we will be responsible for delivering a series of improvements to electrical lines and gas mains alongside associated civil engineering works. This includes diverting two of the three pre-existing gas mains running through the site while ensuring that any remaining gas mains are safely disconnected.
The team will also be required to excavate through the main carriageway within the hospital grounds whilst implementing traffic management systems to minimise disruption for the general public and emergency services.
Meanwhile at Kingsway Hospital, we will install and manage temporary electrical supplies while diverting major gas, water and electrical lines and delivering any necessary associated civil engineering works.
Works at the Royal Chesterfield Hospital and Kingsway Hospital, which will cost a combined £380,000, are expected to begin in August 2022 with an anticipated completion date of early September 2022.
Our Managing Director, John McCann, welcomes news that the business has secured works across two major multi-utilities projects within the East Midlands – especially given the nature of the organisation benefitting from the projects.
“I’m always delighted to hear about new contract wins for the business, but in this case that delight is much greater given the fact our services are required to support the development of critical infrastructure for a major local NHS Trust,” explains John.
“We’ve established a great reputation for delivering quality infrastructure solutions for clients across the UK, so to be named as a partner with Sir Robert McAlpine and Vinci Construction UK is testament to our hard work,”
He adds, “We’ve all witnessed just how vital the NHS is to our country and its communities in recent years – especially when it comes to mental health – so we’re proud to be supporting the development of critical NHS infrastructure that will make a significant difference to people’s lives right here in the East Midlands.”
