Knowing Your First Aid Pays Off

Our first aid training course was recently proven invaluable to one of our members of staff Steve McKewan.

Whilst driving to work last month, Steve was witness to a serious traffic accident involving a HGV and a newspaper boy at a set of traffic lights. Using the skills he had learnt at McCann, Steve was the first to react to the scene and after organising an ambulance, attended to the young boy with first aid.

Steve professionally dressed the boy’s wound to reduce the severe bleeding, and kept him warm and calm until the ambulance arrived. We believe the boy is now making a full recovery.

None of us really expect to find ourselves in this position, but incidents like this one demonstrate just how unpredictable life can be. You can find out more about our first aid curses here.
