We’ve been awarded the Skanska Site Safety Award
We’re very proud to announce that we have been awarded the Skanska Contractor Safety Award for May for achieving the top score for sub-contractor performance against a range of health, safety and environment KPIs and for ‘Making Safety Personal’.
Our Technology Manager Alan Smith received the award on behalf of McCann on the 9th June from John Davis – Skanska’s Health and Safety Manager.
The award was presented following great work on the M1 junction 19 project to improve the junction between the M1, M6 and the A14. Improvements on this junction now mean that links between these major routes will be free-flowing with reduced congestion for motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders.
Further objectives of the improvements were to relieve congestion and improve journey reliability, improve road safety, separate local from long distance traffic, reduce adverse environmental impacts and offer improved value for money for road users.
The scheme budget is £191 million and the end result should now see significant improvements in both northbound and southbound directions on the M1 and A14, as well as smoother links between the M6, A14 and M1.
“I am pleased to award McCann’ with the contractors safety award for May. McCann’s have shown good collaborative behaviour, assisting with the trials of new safety products and for showing exceptional attitudes to housekeeping.” Mark Sutton Construction Manager.
