McCann supports Peterborough Eco Education Awards

Children from schools across Peterborough were recognised for their environmental achievements at the annual Peterborough Eco Education Awards last month – and as supporting sponsors of the event, McCann team members, Tiz Gibson and Steve Adcock were also in attendance to see some of the excellent project work completed.

Sponsored by our partners Skanska and organised by the environmental charity PECT, the awards demonstrated and displayed the excellent Eco Education project work that takes place in the city’s schools. PECT aims to embed knowledge of sustainability issues into classrooms to inspire the next generation of forward-thinking students.

This celebration provided an opportunity for primary, secondary and special schools across the city to join together to share their environmental experiences to help inspire other students on their eco journeys.

During the day, students had a chance to ‘Meet the Eco Organisations’, where they could take part in interactive sessions run by local organisations.

The second session, ‘Meet the School Experts’ gave pupils the chance to talk about their projects and share what they had done with other schools and organisations.

“There were some fantastic eco projects on display and the children showed real enthusiasm for learning about the environment,” said Tiz. “As a company, it’s vital that our work leaves no adverse impact on the surrounding environment, so we take every step to ensure that our operations are sustainable. Our ISO 14001 accreditation is testament to this commitment, so it was great to see the next generation so dedicated to environmental protection for the future.”
