McCann Secures Extended Street Lighting Contract with North-East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) and North Lincolnshire Council (NLC)

McCann is proud to announce that, in December 2025, we were reappointed to the four-year term contract (with an option to extend for a further four years) for the installation and maintenance of street lighting and illuminated sign assets on behalf of North-East Lincolnshire Council (NELC) and North Lincolnshire Council (NLC).

This reappointment marks the continuation of a highly successful and collaborative partnership between McCann, NELC and NLC, a relationship that has remained strong since October 1990. Being entrusted once again with this critical public service reflects our long-standing commitment to quality, safety, reliability and collaborative working.

Comprehensive Service Delivery

Under the extended contract, McCann will continue to deliver a full range of street lighting and illuminated sign services, including:

• Route management, monitoring, inspection and maintenance
• Reactive and emergency works
• Configuration, inspection and testing, including replacement, repair and testing
• Cyclic maintenance programmes
• Non-routine maintenance of powered apparatus
• All associated DNO contestable works
• Independent Connection Provider (ICP) works

As term contractor since 1990, McCann has successfully installed and maintained more than 41,000 street lighting columns and lanterns, along with approximately 5,500 illuminated signs across the two authorities.

Proven Performance and Reliability

Over the past decade, McCann has operated continuously across both NELC and NLC areas, consistently delivering high performance. Our teams remain fully committed to meeting and exceeding all service delivery timescales throughout the life of the contract.

Our average fault reporting time is currently just 1.36 days, delivering an exceptional Key Performance Indicator (KPI) score of 99.99%. This performance is underpinned by our strong operating model, which combines accredited management systems, advanced resource planning, real-time performance monitoring and a culture of continuous improvement. The principles from the NELC and NLC contracts guide and shape all the subsequent maintenance contracts we hold with local authorities nationwide.

Local Expertise, Rapid Response

Our strategically located depot provides a strong operational base for our skilled and experienced local workforce. With dedicated vehicle and materials storage, alongside office and co-location facilities, our teams are well-positioned to deliver rapid and reliable responses.

As a result, McCann is currently achieving call-out times of between 30 and 46 minutes a significant improvement on the contract’s required two-hour call-out KPI, ensuring safer, well-lit communities across North-East and North Lincolnshire.
