McCann named as finalist in Mental Health and Wellbeing category at this year’s Highways Awards
Anticipation is in the air as it is revealed that McCann is a finalist in the Mental Health and Wellbeing category at this year’s Highways Awards.
Now in its 19th year, the Highways Awards brings together over 500 highway professionals for an evening of celebrations, as individuals and teams across the country are recognised for their inspirational contributions to the highways industry.
There will be no shortage of glitz and glamour at the black-tie gala dinner and awards ceremony hosted at the prestigious Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge on Wednesday 19th October 2022.
Awards are open to organisations and individuals who have shown significant contributions to the highways sector, with many impactful nominations making it onto this year’s shortlist of finalists.
Award categories include Environmental Sustainability, Mental Health and well-being, Winter Maintenance and Road Safety Scheme of the Year. Along with sponsoring the Road Safety Scheme of the Year Award, we have now been named as a finalist in the Mental Health and Wellbeing category.
Sponsored by mental health charity Mind, the Mental Health and Wellbeing category celebrates employers that have taken a “joined-up approach to support employee mental health and wellbeing and strive to embed best practice across their organisation.” Businesses must also demonstrate how mental health and well-being have been promoted across all levels of the organisation, including how senior leaders champion the mental health plan.
We have been shortlisted for our wide-ranging approach to promoting positive mental health and well-being support by investing in dedicated mental health initiatives and First Aid training programmes. This investment is part of our Mental Wellbeing Support Strategy, which aims to educate and support employees to have open and honest conversations about mental health across the organisation.
The news of our shortlist has been well received by Managing Director, John McCann, who is delighted that the business continues to be recognised for its commitment to mental health support within the organisation.
“Our business would be nothing without the brave and dedicated people that work within it, so having initiatives and processes in place which support them throughout their journey at McCann is very important to us,”
John continues, “Every employee is treated as part of the McCann family so, through our Mental Health Ambassadors Programme, we’ve created a network of dedicated support which places as much emphasis on mental wellbeing as it does on physical wellbeing,”
“It’s an honour for us to be named as a finalist alongside many other inspirational firms at this year’s Highways Awards, and we look forward to celebrating the industry’s successes in October this year.”
