McCann awarded certificate from Costain
We are proud to announce that we have recently received certification from Costain, for ‘demonstrating exceptional performance’ throughout our work on the M1 Junction 32 – 35A improvements during the first two quarters of the year.
Our work on the 17km stretch of the M1 has formed part of the wider Highways England smart motorway scheme and will see significant benefits for drivers upon completion.
Work carried out so far includes improvements to communication and technology infrastructure, installation of new ducting, chambers and cabling, implementation of appropriate connections and testing, as well as preparation and installation of new gantries across the motorway which are used to house electronic signage for the smart motorway system.
The project started in November 2015 and is still ongoing, with the aim upon completion of relieving congestion and improving journey reliability, improving road safety and offering improved value for money for road users.
Costain’s certification was awarded based on a lengthy set of criteria which included meeting set KPIs across areas including health and safety, planning, quality and commercial.
Project Director Carl Lancaster is naturally pleased that the business has been recognised for its hard work, stating “we’re enormously proud to receive this certification from Costain as it underlines the excellent work from our team. Our industry-leading health and safety standards have seen us keep our accident safety rate at zero for over 12 months, so to be recognised by Costain for excelling in all the relevant health and safety criteria, alongside KPIs in performance, delivery, quality and more, is very satisfying indeed”.
