Commitment to best practice recognised as we maintain our FORS Silver Status
We’re delighted to announce that we have been successfully awarded Silver Status by the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) for our fleet management system and approach to managing work-related road risks.
The Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme is a voluntary European Accreditation Programme for fleet operators incorporating three levels of certification – bronze, silver and gold. The scheme has over 4,850 accredited members, covering over 101,300 vehicles.
Organisations are able to register if they operate any vehicle in the UK that is involved in the movement of materials, products, valuables, equipment, tools, waste, food, vehicles or luggage. A strict set of standards must be adhered to, with FORS working to improve best practice within fleet operations across safety, efficiency and the environment.
After holding FORS Silver status since 2017, we have now successfully met all the required criteria for retaining that status in 2021. We were assessed based on legislation and our approach to areas such as licensing, vehicle warning equipment, blind-spot minimisation, driver training, transport related fines and charges, and vehicle performance measurements – including CO2 emissions and fuel usage.
Being recognised as a FORS Silver status fleet operator brings numerous benefits, especially because many customers only choose to work with an operator that is FORS accredited due to its strong ties to health and safety, efficiency and commitments to the environment. According to FORS, “85% of transport decision makers want a UK-wide standard” and for McCann, Silver status will continue to ensure the protection of our drivers, as well as other road users, while demonstrating to existing and potential new customers our commitment to adhering to high industry standards and best practice.
Fleet and Plant Manager Paul King is delighted with the news and sees this as a crucial part of our long-term success and growth strategy.
“McCann has been a strong Silver category business for a number of years and we’ve been working hard as a team to maintain the consistently high standards we set for ourselves,”
“FORS is all about best practice when it comes to health and safety and working practices across a number of fleet management areas. We are very proud to have maintained our Silver status and we will strive to not only uphold these standards, but to build upon them and work towards achieving Gold status in the future”.
