Civil engineering firm brings festive cheer to local primary school
We have recently spread some extra Christmas cheer by contributing to the festivities at Barnburgh Primary in Doncaster.
Covid restrictions have meant that the staff have been unable to install the school’s Christmas tree in the hall as they would in previous years. The school was keen to find a solution to the problem to ensure that the children could still enjoy the festivities, despite enforced social distancing measures.
Hearing about the Barnburgh Primary’s’s plight and showing its generosity and Christmas spirit, we offered up our services to the school at no charge including the installation of lights to conifer trees at the school entrance and around the playground, as well the installation of fairy lights and light up reindeer in the nearby Walt’s Wood.
Contracts and Technical Director, Steve Adcock, is delighted that our team was able to come to the school’s aid and recognises the importance of supporting others and performing selfless acts particularly at this time of the year.
“With all of the hustle and bustle associated with Christmas, it’s important to take a moment to stop and do something pro-active to support others,” explains Steve.
He continues, “When you’re a child, Christmas is filled with so much anticipation and excitement. After the year we’ve all had, it must be hard for children to understand why celebrations are compromised or why traditions have changed,”
“We really wanted to do this for Barnburgh Primary in the hope that it would not only cheer the children up, but also spread joy among the staff and parents too.”
The local community has expressed its gratitude for our contribution as Mrs Potts, Head Teacher at Barnburgh Primary, goes on to explain.
“McCann has shown trumendous generosity in doing this for our school and it really means a lot to us all. We’re overwhelmed and extremely grateful for the team’s input at this time,”
She continues, “From all of us at Barnburgh Primary, we would just like to say a huge thank you to Steve Adcock and his team for organising the installations and showing the local community the true meaning of Christmas.”
