Leading on Inclusion and Diversity, McCann Achieves Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) Status
We’re proud to share that McCann has officially achieved Disability Confident Leader (Level 3) status!
This is the highest level within the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme, recognising organisations that not only create inclusive workplaces internally, but also lead the way in driving change across their industry.
What is the Disability Confident scheme?
The Disability Confident scheme is a UK Government initiative designed to help employers attract, recruit, retain, and develop disabled people and those with long-term health conditions. It encourages organisations to challenge stigma, remove barriers, and build more inclusive, accessible workplaces. The scheme has three levels, with Level 3 (Leader) recognising those who are actively influencing others and setting the standard for inclusion.
Our journey so far:
- 2022 – Started our Disability Confident journey
- 2024 – Achieved Level 2 (Disability Confident Employer)
- 2026 – Achieved Level 3 (Disability Confident Leader)
Reaching this level means we are recognised for creating an accessible and inclusive environment, supporting and developing disabled employees, and using our platform to influence positive change beyond McCann.
Over the past few years, we’ve taken meaningful steps to get here. This has included opening up conversations through industry-wide Listen & Learn sessions covering disability and inclusive practices, improving how we understand and act on diversity data, and introducing neurodiversity workplace assessments to better ensure individuals receive the right support to thrive. We’ve also worked closely with SEN schools such as Ash Lea School, established an employee-led community group to amplify voices, and delivered EDI, wellbeing, and mental health training across the business, while sharing our learning more widely to help shape industry best practice.
This achievement places us among a relatively small group of construction organisations to reach Level 3, alongside companies such as Costain Group and Kier Group. It’s a significant milestone, particularly as some of the industry’s largest organisations have yet to reach this level.
Achieving Level 3 required sponsorship from an existing Disability Confident Leader to validate and support our application, making this recognition even more meaningful.
We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, but this isn’t the finish line. We remain committed to learning, improving, and using our platform to drive lasting, positive change across our industry.
