Our growth continues as we welcome Estimator James McDaid to our team!
Following recent success with Highways England awarding us the contracts for Area 7’s Road Lighting, Electrical Works and its Technology, we’re pleased to announce further growth with the appointment of Estimator James McDaid.
Joining us from Balfour Beatty, where he started the company’s multi site street lighting additional revenue business in 2007, James brings with him a wealth of industry knowledge and experience gained over a decade working within both the public and private sector.
In his new role, James will be managing a team of assistant estimators and technical assistants, and he’ll also be responsible for the generation and production of the company’s bids and tenders.
“This is split into two sides of the business,” explains James. “One side being the general civil engineering and construction projects that we deliver on a day-to-day basis, and the other is working with my colleague Tiz Gibson – also a recent addition to the team – to build the Local Authority side of the business. As part of the Bid Team, I complete all the pricing which is obviously key to any contract win.”
Both Tiz and James’ appointments follow our achievement in completing a number of projects for local Councils, including our most recent – working with North East Lincolnshire Council to replace over 20,000 traditional street lights with low energy LED lights. Completing the project ahead of schedule and on budget, our reputation for reliability, efficiency and outstanding health and safety standards has grown exponentially amongst Local Authorities across the UK, and MD John McCann is keen to capitalise on this upturn.
“We are extremely pleased to have James on board. He has been instrumental in the implementation of various Local Authority public realm works, energy-efficiency schemes and architectural projects in his previous roles, making him an excellent addition to our team.”
“McCann has already impressed me with its size, people, plant and general resource – they certainly are the best in their field,” adds James.
