Civils Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Civils Supervisor to join our team.

Main duties and responsibilities for this role will include supervising the day to day operational activities within our Calderdale contract.

Reporting to the Operational Lead, you will safely manage all resources and be tasked with removing and replacing street lighting assets and associated network cabling.

Technical Competencies:

  • CSCS or ECS

  • SSSTS

  • Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid and G39

  • NRSWA qualification

  • Good commercial awareness 

  • Ideally, PC Literate and knowledge of MS suite i.e. Word, Excel 

  • Good Knowledge of Business Assurance Systems

  • Good influencing and motivation skills

  • Experience of responsibility for site-based activities
  • Knowledge of basic electrical/DNO systems

Street Lighting Hiab Operator

In this role you will support the growth of our Street Lighting Business, carrying out various tasks within the titled role ensuring that all H&S objectives and responsibilities are adhered to. You will also assist as a team member carrying out the maintenance and erection of Street Lighting Columns, Signs and related equipment.

As a Hiab (Installation Crane) Operative, you will:

  • Erect, maintain and remove street lighting, signs and related equipment, paying careful attention to buried services and overhead cables

  • Excavate and reinstate coated and other surface materials

  • Drive vehicles and operate ancillary plant (Hoists or Lorry Loaders) and, where appropriate, carry out vehicle and plant checks requiring routine maintenance and cleaning

  • Transport goods, equipment and personnel to and from site

  • Assist in the loading and un-loading of the vehicles using, where necessary, mechanical aids


To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have previous street lighting experience

  • Hold a CSCS or ECS card

  • Desirable - Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid and G39

  • Hold a full UK driving license to drive over 3.5t

  • Be a NRSWA Operative

  • Hold a GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English

  • Have excellent communication skills

Electrician

Reporting to the Maintenance / Installation Supervisor your responsibilities will include carrying out maintenance, testing and installation of all electrical equipment associated with Street Lighting to the relevant standards in an efficient and timely manner whilst ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Rules, Regulations and Legislations.

You should also be able to work with minimum supervision, complete all paperwork as required, liaise with other trades when required and maintain a clean and tidy work place.

Technical competencies:
You should hold a relevant electrical qualification, have experience of the electrical contracting industry and have time served as a qualified electrician. You should also be experienced in the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations and be trained in mobile elevated work platforms.

Other desirable competencies include:

  • CSCS or ECS
  • Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid and G39
  • 2391 Electrical Testing

Motorway Technology Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Motorway Technology Supervisor to join our team.

As Motorway Technology Supervisor you will be responsible for:

  • To oversee all installation works associated with the technology aspects of large motorway systems upgrading works
  • To direct teams covering the installation communications cabling, technology equipment, electronic systems components and superstructure work from construction to commissioning
  • To ensure that all site works are conducted in a safe manner
  • To manage the production of documentation in respect of the H&S file, handover documentation and other paperwork required by the contract
  • To deal with technology works related problems to ensure that they do not impact the overall project
  • To ensure that work is completed safely, on time and to budget, and to the required quality
  • To manage the Technology elements of the project

The ideal applicant will have experience of:

  • Installation and Construction of Motorway Communications systems
  • Knowledge of Highways England Standards, Specifications, Systems & Equipment
  • Working in a high speed motorway environment
  • Assisting with programme production
  • Electrical Qualification / Experience (preferred)
  • Used to working to a programme and able to plan / schedule working activities

Street Lighting and Civils Supervisor


Base: Calderdale

We have an exciting opportunity for either a Street Lighting and Civils Supervisor to join our.

Main duties and responsibilities for this role will include:

- Supervising the maintenance and installation of street lighting works

- Carrying out visual inspection of installations to ensure that the electrical installation and quality of work reaches the required standard

- Plan maintenance and small scheme works

- Update program and report to the Contract Manager

- Amend and produce site specific RAMs

- Arranging inspection visits by the client 

- Ensuring that any faults noted by the client are rectified immediately and re-inspection arranged.

- Ensuring all paperwork is accurate and completed

- Plan material requirements for scheme works

- Plan traffic management for scheme works

- Request resource requirements for scheme works 

- Ensure KPI’s and targets are met, drive works.

- Ensure efficient production of the work force

- Ensure civil excavation and reinstatement works are completed to specification and to a high standard

- Carry out toolbox talks and site audits


The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Previous Supervisory experience and ability to effectively lead a team

- Familiar with the Electricity at Work Regulations and BS 7671

- Excellent listening & communication skills, with the ability to deal with employees and clients of all levels

- Flexible approach to working, with the ability to adapt to change where required

- Full driving license

- Relevant industry training certificates are desirable (NSWRA, G39, First Aid, SSSTS, IPAF, 302.1)

- Computer literate especially MS Excel


Desirable but not essential:
- 2391 inspection and testing
- Knowledge of MS project

Street lighting operatives

We are recruiting for Street Lighting Operatives to join our growing team. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for carrying out all aspect of electrical installation and maintenance works in Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Surveying, TR22, asset data collection
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Installation of lighting column and LED technology
- Assisting in electrical testing activities
- Excavation and reinstatement
- Working at heights (MEWP)
- There will be a requirement to work some unsociable hours and overtime and to undertake emergency call out and standby when required

Essential

- Street lighting or highways experience
- G39 certification
- HEA Approved
- ECS
- IPAF qualified
- Manual handling
- Abrasive wheels
- First Aid
- Holder of valid driving licence
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)

Desireable

- HGV Class 2
- NRSWA Units 1 to 9
- HIAB operations
