Estimator and Trainee Estimator

Due to our continued and strong growth within the UK, we now have two fantastic opportunities within our business for an ambitious and talented (1) Estimator and a (2) Trainer Estimator to work out of our Nottingham head office.

Key Tasks/Accountabilities:

You will be working with the New Business Manager, Commercial Manager and Directors and will be responsible for the Process for all new Bids and Tenders that McCann’s submit prices for, including Tender Schedules, Programmes and Tender Review Meetings, Rate Build-ups, compilation of rates and quality documentation for submission to Clients.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have experience in Street lighting, Signage, Motorway Communications and Utilities tenders, would
be beneficial however not essential as full training will be given.
- Be able to review tender documents assessing scope, identifying risks involved, tender complexity
and provide feedback to the New Business Manager & Commercial Manager.
- Be able to complete accurate take off measurements from drawings and creating bill of quantities.
- Need to use our bespoke cost model to build up labour, plant and materials from first principles.
- Have intermediate level in Microsoft excel and word essential.
- Have good communication skills, with high quality of written submissions and tender presentations.
- Have exceptional customer service skills (dealing with clients on the telephone), and be a good
communicator with all groups / levels of people, both internal and external.
- Have the ability to work flexibly and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
- Have good attention to detail, accuracy and numeracy skills, excellent time management skills and a
pro-active approach.
- Have the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Having a good understanding of NEC3/NEC4 Suite of Contracts & Subcontracts would be desirable
but not essential.
- Other duties as required to suit the contract
The role would be:
- Full time with 25 days annual holiday entitlement

Trainer/NVQ Assessor

As a leading supplier and installer of street lighting, traffic signs, signals, communication systems and associated civil engineering we can also play a key role in the development of project design and build ability whilst working comfortably within a wide range of contractual arrangements.

With a large, highly skilled, directly employed workforce we now have an exciting opportunity for an additional Trainer/NVQ Assessor to carry out the delivery of training and the completion of NVQ assessment to satisfy the requirements of the Highway Electrical Association and National Highway Sector Scheme 8.

* Have experience and technical knowledge in one of the highways electrical sector areas.
* Electrical Qualification / Experience
* Have Knowledge on NHSS8 and HERS
* Have an NVQ Assessor qualification (A1) or willing to achieve this qualification
* Level 3 Award in Education and Training (EAT) (previously PTLLS)
* Be self-motivated and able to manage their own work
* Willing to travel across the UK as and when required.

* To lead and administer the NVQ process and carry out NVQ assessments.
* Carry out electrical training required under HERS
* Deliver Highway England Passport Inductions as and when required and carry out HE passport administration.
* Support with the Build and maintenance of HERS portfolio’s as and when required.
* Look at and continually improving and implementing electrical training to standardise methods of work.
* Support with the Requirements of NHSS8 and HERS processes and compliance.
* Support with the ATO centre processes and administration.

The successful candidate will have a High level of commitment, good organisational skills, able to work on own initiative and must be computer literate to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Street Lighting Hiab Operator

In this role you will support the growth of our Street Lighting Business, carrying out various tasks within the titled role ensuring that all H&S objectives and responsibilities are adhered to. You will also assist as a team member carrying out the maintenance and erection of Street Lighting Columns, Signs and related equipment.

As a Hiab (Installation Crane) Operative, you will:

- Erect, maintain and remove street lighting, signs and related equipment, paying careful attention to buried services and overhead cables

- Excavate and reinstate coated and other surface materials

- Drive vehicles and operate ancillary plant (Hoists or Lorry Loaders) and, where appropriate, carry out vehicle and plant checks requiring routine maintenance and cleaning

- Transport goods, equipment and personnel to and from site

- Assist in the loading and un-loading of the vehicles using, where necessary, mechanical aids

To be successful in this role, you will:

- Have previous street lighting experience

- Hold a CSCS or ECS card

- Desirable - Manual Handling, Emergency First Aid and G39

- Hold a full UK driving license to drive over 3.5t

- Be a NRSWA Operative

- Hold a GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English

- Have excellent communication skills

- HGV Operatives (preferable experience/cert’s for Grab/Hiab but not essential)
- Labourers (preferably with CSCS cards but again, not essential)
